All-on-X Dental Implant Treatment and Dry Mouth

This post is about All-on-X dental implant treatment and dry mouth. Dry mouth can lead to tremendous decay. Saliva helps remineralize our teeth but without proper saliva flow, it’s almost impossible to stop decay. This woman went through a lifetime of doing her best to fight cavities. She ended up getting a full mouth reconstruction with an excellent dentist. But over the years, because of the saliva issue she had serious dental decay over her lifetime. Treatment Options and Dental Treatment

We first discussed the option of saving her teeth. It was more of the same type of dentistry she had over her lifetime. However, the discussion to reboot and start fresh with implant teeth interested her. After discussing pros and cons (she absolutely did not want removable dentures) she made the decision to get the All-on-X dental implant treatment. One of the benefits of dental implants are they will not decay. So at least the decay problem will be solved. So we took digital records and planned her case. She had some dental implants already in place from previous dental treatment.

So during surgery, dental implants were placed and her gummy smile was corrected too. After surgery her mouth was digitally scanned so the temporary teeth can be made. These teeth are typically delivered either the same day or the day after surgery. The All-on-X provisional teeth are much smaller than dentures as seen in these pictures.

Post Surgery Temporary Teeth

Since she had two implants already integrated, they were used in this case. Sometimes implants have to be removed for successful case. But in this case we were able to use them. After surgery 3D printed temporary teeth were screwed in the day after surgery. She now had secure temporary implant teeth and her gummy smile was corrected too. She was very pleased with the results and is now smiling with confidence.
